Jevon Porter, the younger brother of Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr., was reportedly arrested on a DWI charge in Missouri.

Citing Missouri State Highway Patrol records, Jevon Porter was arrested for speeding and suspicion of DWI at 1:31 a.m. local time in Boone County. He was released on summons aferwards.

Porter played two seasons for Pepperdine University but entered the transfer portal back in March.

He was coached by Lorenzo Romar, Michael’s godfather but the coach was dismissed following the season.

In 52 games over two seasons at Pepperdine, Porter averaged 13.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest, while shooting 45 percent from the field as a 6’11 power forward.

Porter, who is also the younger brother of Jontay Porter, originally hails from Columbia, Missouri, like his brothers and played for Michael’s MPJ Elite travel team. Jontay was issued a lifetime ban by the NBA earlier this month for gambling.

The hometown Tigers, who signed both Jontay and Michael in the class of 2017, are expected to be among a number of suitors interested in Jevon, who broke out as a freshman in 2022-23.

Porter will have two years of eligibility remaining at the school he chooses.

As a member of the Class of 2022, Porter was a three-star recruit out of Columbia (Mo.) Father Tolton, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 5 overall prospect in the state, the No. 28 power forward in the class and the No. 168 overall prospect in the class.

Jontay Porter banned from NBA

The family drama continued in the Porter family with Jevon’s arrest. Jontay was banned from the NBA amid a gambling scandal earlier this month.

The issue stemmed from prop bets placed on Porter from Jan. 26 to March 20. NBA officials found that Porter “disclosed confidential information to sports bettors, limited his own participation in one or more games for betting purposes and bet on NBA games.” Per the league’s press release, his actions are still under continued investigation.

According to the league’s initial findings, while traveling with the Raptors or Raptors 905, the NBA G League affiliate, Porter placed at least 13 bets on NBA games using an associate’s online betting account. These bets ranged in size from $15 to $22,000, for a total of $54,094. The total payout from these bets was $76,059, resulting in net winnings of $21,965. None of the bets involved any game in which he played. Three of the bets were multi-game parlay bets that included one Raptors game, in which Porter bet that the Raptors would lose. All three bets lost.
