There’s a big game in the ACC down in Atlanta on Saturday with No. 12 Clemson vs. Georgia Tech. Now, going into their conference openers, Joel Klatt has made his pick for this weekend’s matchup between the Tigers and Yellow Jackets.

During his show on Thursday, Klatt shared several of his picks for week three, including for Clemson-Georgia Tech. In doing so, he noted how close the game is projected to be, which can be explained by how the Tigers haven’t met expectations through two weeks of this season.

“Another good one. This one’s in the ACC – Clemson on the road at Georgia Tech,” Klatt said. “With how they’ve looked in the first two weeks, this is a very trendy pick to go to Georgia Tech’s side, so this number has gone all the way down to 3.5.”

BetMGM has the line set tight with Clemson as a three-point favorite on the road against Georgia Tech, after the Tigers had originally opened as a six-point favorite. The total is then set at 52.5 points, with the under slightly more favored there at (-118).

Again, three weeks ago, Clemson might have been projected to be an even larger favorite. That’s no longer the case, though, with the Tigers having lost to LSU and then nearly being upset by Troy. Most of those current concerns have to do with Clemson’s offense, with Klatt unsure what kind of output that unit is going to have tomorrow against GT.

(Clemson) has not looked right this season. Now, remember what I’ve always said about Clemson, is that the frustrating part about Clemson’s offense, under Cade Klubnik and Garrett Riley, is the fact that they’ve had such peaks and valleys. You know, I’m not a huge fan of these peaks and valleys, and are we going to get a valley for a sustained period of time? I think that they probably bounce back,” Klatt said. “Clemson’s offense is questioning whether they’re going to have Antonio Williams back. He exited that LSU game early in the first quarter. Dabo called him their best player. They’re clearly not right with him not on the field.”

As for Georgia Tech, this all really rests on the health of Haynes King. Since Klatt’s video, King has been ruled as available for the game after missing last weekend with a lower-body injury he was dealing with coming out of the opener against Colorado.

In that game, King ran 19 times for 156 yards and three touchdowns. Now, in need of him to carry that load again to get this win, Klatt wasn’t sure if the Yellow Jackets’ quarterback would be able to handle that off injury and against this defense for the Tigers.

“My question is for Haynes King and Georgia Tech. If Haynes King is healthy and ready to go, then maybe they’ve got a shot in this game. But, he didn’t play last week after clearly being hobbled against Colorado in week one,” Klatt explained. “I just, I can’t get myself to the point where I think Haynes King can run it 15 to 20 times, which he would have to do in order for them to win – like he did last year against Georgia. Like, I just don’t see that.”

With that, Klatt chose Clemson to win this one by two touchdowns. That’s with the belief that the Tigers have a get-right game tomorrow afternoon at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

“For me, Clemson gets back on track with this one,” Klatt said. “I think they cover the 3.5 and they win this one big, 31-17. Remember, peaks and valleys? I think we’re about to get a peak. I think that you’re going to see some urgency from Clemson. Their offensive line should definitely play better. There’s no doubt. Cade Klubnik should definitely play better. This is a week that they could certainly get right.”
