In one of the biggest games in recent Nebraska football history, the Cornhuskers host No. 21 Michigan in Lincoln this weekend. Nebraska is 0-28 in its last 28 games against top-25 opponents, but could completely flip that script with a massive win over the Wolverines.

Ahead of kick-off on Saturday, FOX Sports‘ Joel Klatt gave his take on the game during Thursday’s edition of ‘The Joel Klatt Show’.

“The scene will be great. I’m not as worried about the scene for Bryce Underwood and Michigan because they have seen a scene like they have just a couple of weeks ago at Oklahoma. While it’s not that you’re comfortable on the road, you’re familiar with what it feels like to be on the road in a big atmosphere. This second start for Underwood I think will go much better than his first start.”

“It’s a massive opportunity for Nebraska to try and pick themselves up and put themselves into a tier in the Big Ten that they haven’t been in for a long time. 27 straight games against ranked opponents that they’ve lost, and that dates back to 2016.”

Klatt is rolling with Michigan this weekend over Nebraska

Michigan has won four consecutive matchups over Nebraska dating back to the 2018 season. They last met in 2023 (Rhule’s first season in Lincoln), where the Wolverines rolled 45-7 en route to their perfect 15-0 season and College Football Playoff National Championship victory.

“I do think (Nebraska is) gonna have to lean on this offense,” Klatt continued. “It has looked good so far during the opening part of this season. (Dylan) Raiola has looked fairly good. Remember, they changed coordinator. They did some things late in the season and now it’s an offense that’s much further along than what we saw last year. If they can get the passing game going early and threaten that Michigan defense and stay balanced, then the crowd becomes more of a factor.

“So Michigan‘s favored by 2.5. What do I like in this game? I think Michigan covers this game. I see something along the lines of 34-21. Something like that. I think Michigan goes on the road, with the familiarity of being on the road, and gets the win.”

Kick-off between the two programs this weekend is set for 3:30 PM ET. The game can be seen on CBS.
