Joey Galloway ranks his top five teams in college football after Week 4

ESPN’s Joey Galloway ranked his top five teams in college football following Week 4 of the season. However, there were no changes, pending Week 5’s unreal schedule.
A lot could be shifted across rankings this coming weekend. One of the highlights of the college football schedule is Oregon at Penn State. By the way, neither of those two teams made Galloway’s top five!
There are two usual suspects at the top, but the rest of the rankings might surprise you a bit! So, let’s dive into Galloway’s five best teams in the country.
1. Ohio State
The Buckeyes were off this past weekend but they still topped Galloway’s rankings going into Week 5. Through Week 4, Ohio State is the top team in the country across all polls.
Their win over Texas to open the season still stands out as well. Elite defense, very efficient offense and proper coaching have this team in position to repeat through the first third of the year.
2. Georgia

Georgia was also off this past weekend and will take on Alabama Saturday in Athens. Galloway has them as the second best team in the country and the top team in a loaded SEC this year.
Gunner Stockton is proving a lot of people wrong with stellar play at QB so far as well. Suddenly, him vs. Ty Simpson at QB is going to be must-see TV on Saturday.
3. Tennessee
Galloway having Tennessee this high is certainly interesting, compared to other polls. Following a thrilling finish vs. Georgia, the Vols had to bounce back.

They did in a big way, dominating UAB 56-24 this past weekend. Joey Aguilar has filled in seamlessly and then some at quarterback, elevating expectations for Josh Heupel and company in 2025.
4. Miami
Miami remained undefeated with a 26-7 win over Florida. Galloway was notably critical of the Gators, but the hurricanes are taking care of business each and every week.
This is easily the team to beat in the ACC and they have a Heisman contender in QB Carson Beck. Miami will have a week off before traveling to take on Florida State in a top 10 matchup.
5. Texas A&M

This was the third team on Galloway’s top five that did not play this past weekend. Still, A&M beating Notre Dame stands out, considering people are still high on the Irish despite a 1-2 record.
Marcel Reed has looked great at QB and Mike Elko seemingly has a more talented team than in 2024. If it keeps up at this rate, this is a bonafide College Football Playoff team for the first time.
