Johnny Manziel walked into Bryant-Denny Stadium and came out with a win in 2012, one of the more famous Texas A&M wins of all time. Flash forward 13 years and Manziel was hoping to see his friend, Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia, pull off a similar feat. Manziel was on the sideline Saturday night in a Pavia jersey and wound up making his presence known.

Alabama fans began to chirp at Manziel once the game was in hand. At one point, he turned to the crowd and gave them the double bird.

The gestures were not done either. Matt Stahl of AL.com revealed Manziel went on to flash the Heisman Trophy pose, something he won not too long after taking down Alabama. Some verbals were then thrown into the crowd, reportedly saying, “suck my ****.”

Manziel was a part of the pregame trash talking coming from Pavia. He sat down with On3’s Chris Low before the game, saying, “I beat them once. Diego’s got a chance to beat them twice. That’s the kind of sh*t they build statues for.”

Crimson Tide fans have to remember Manziel quite well for his performance. He put up 253 yards and two touchdowns in the air, while adding 92 yards on the ground. Texas A&M jumped into the top 10 of the BCS thanks to the win. Eventually, the Aggies won the Cotton Bowl vs. Oklahoma and earned the program’s first top-five finish in the AP poll since 1956.

Unfortunately, Pavia did not put up a similar performance on Saturday afternoon. Alabama fans decided to chirp back a little bit and got two birds thrown right back at them.

This was not the only verbal altercation after Alabama got a win. Pavia was square in the middle of one when walking off the field. A good chunk of expletives were used, including Pavia at one point saying, “I’ll do whatever the **** I want.” This came after a fan got after the Vanderbilt quarterback for his pregame comments.

“The crowd, I think, is going to be a big factor in the game,” Pavia said. “But we just gotta play within the white lines. If we do that, if we play our game, it won’t be close.”

A Vanderbilt staffer did tell the fan to “shut the **** up” at one point. Nothing more appears to have come out of either situation other than passionate conversation.
