The Las Vegas Raiders are getting back starting running back Josh Jacobs for Monday night’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Jacobs has missed the last two games for the Raiders with an ankle injury. He was listed as questionable all week but has now been given the green light just in time to help take on their rival.

In Jacobs’ only game of the season against the Baltimore Ravens, he had 10 rushes for 34 yards and two touchdowns. The Raiders went on to win the game 33-27 in overtime. And although Las Vegas has been without their leading 2020 Pro Bowl tailback, they have continued to rattle off wins. Monday’s game will be big for the Raiders, as they currently lead the AFC West with a 3-0 record. A win tonight would keep them in first and drop the Chargers to 2-2.

Raiders minus Jacobs

Week 2 saw them take a game on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers. They didn’t have much of a running game as they had 52 yards on 25 attempts. The Raiders did try to establish a running game but only averaged 2.1 yards per attempt. The leading rusher in the game for Las Vegas was Peyton Barber. He finished with 13 carries for 32 yards. Good thing for them quarterback Derek Carr balled out. Carr finished 28 of 37 passing with 382 yards and two touchdowns. He also added in nine rushing yards as well. They won that game 26-17.

In Week 3, they won a back and forth game at home against the Miami Dolphins. After falling behind early 14-0, the Raiders bounced back to trail by two at the half. In the third, they took the lead, leading by as many as 11 but lost the lead in the fourth as the Dolphins kicked a field goal to send it into overtime. Las Vegas did establish the running game in that matchup. They had 140 yards on 35 carries for an average of four yards a carry. Barber was the high man again with 111 yards on 23 touches and a touchdown. Las Vegas won the game 31-28 in overtime.

With Jacobs back, the Raiders will continue to use a rough ground and pound method to weaken opposing defenses, and tonight against the Chargers, that is a real possibility to win tonight as Los Angeles is allowing 170 rushing yards per game. With them allowing that much per game, Jacobs could be in for a grand welcome back performance.
