Well, well, well…the rematch. First-year KSU head coach Jerome Tang scored his first major victory over the Jayhawks earlier this month, when the Wildcats welcomed Bill Self’s club to Bramlage Coliseum and sent them home with a loss after Keyontae Johnson and Markquis Nowell hooked up for a game-winning alley-oop in overtime to seal the deal, 83-82.

Johnson and Newell were masterful for KSU while Jalen Wilson was his typical All-American self, nearly pulling the Jayhawks to victory on his own. This time, at home, he’ll surely get more help from his compatriots, who showed up big time in the win over Kentucky this past weekend. Wilson, along with Kevin McCullar and Gradey Dick, all nailed massive threes late in the second half to send Kansas over Kentucky — and they’ll need similar efforts against the other Wildcats.
Kansas is favored this time around, and rightfully so. Though they lost the first meeting, it was at Kansas State and the Jayhawks were with them lockstep until the final moments. KU likely gets revenge tonight — however, we know what Tang’s group, in particular Johnson and Newell, are like at their best and could easily steal away another win in this budding rivalry.
