Keon Sabb injury update: Latest revealed on Alabama safety vs. Vanderbilt on Wednesday availability report

Alabama and Vanderbilt are set to meet in arguably the game of the week, a showdown that will have high-level SEC and College Football Playoff implications. And the injury report looms large.
We have a decent idea what to expect out of Alabama, given that the Crimson Tide are coming off an SEC game last week and thus had to file an official report. Vanderbilt hasn’t had an SEC tilt since Week 3, when it faced South Carolina.
So what can each team expect? Below is the first look at the injury report released by the league on Wednesday evening. Notably, Keon Sabb is not listed for Alabama.
Alabama Crimson Tide
- LB Qua Russaw – Out
- LB Jah-Marien Latham – Out
- DL Jeremiah Beaman – Out
- DL James Smith – Out (1st half)
Vanderbilt Commodores
- CB Marlon Jones – Out
- RB Chase Gillespie – Out
- DB Brail Lipford – Out
- LB Jamison Curtis – Out
- DL Yilanan Ouattara – Doubtful
- CB Mark Davis – Questionable
Alabama addressed at least part of its injury situation on Wednesday on an SEC teleconference call when head coach Kalen DeBoer hit on the status of safety Keon Sabb. Sabb was limited down the stretch against Georgia last week.
But the talented defensive back figures to be back in action this weekend. That could be huge against Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia and company.
“He’ll be playing Saturday,” DeBoer said on the SEC coaches teleconference. “Yeah, he’ll be playing on Saturday.”

Through four games, Sabb has 15 tackles, 10 of which are solo. One tackle for a loss is the only other number to pop up in the stat sheet.
Alabama had a number of other players out for the Georgia game, too. Wide receiver Jalen Hale was ruled out later in the week, while defensive lineman Jeremiah Beaman and linebacker Jah-Marien Latham were listed as out from jump last week.
On Vanderbilt’s side, only defensive lineman Yilanan Ouattara was out against South Carolina a few weeks back. He has not played in a game since the season opener against Virginia Tech.
But the Commodores appear to be relatively healthy entering the game against Alabama, all things considered. The teams will issue further injury reports on Thursday, Friday and Saturday leading up to the game.
