The Oklahoma Sooners and South Carolina Gamecocks are set to meet this weekend, with both teams hoping to bounce back from a tough loss. Ahead of that game, though, each team has released its availability report for Thursday.

There is a kind of reflection of last season’s game in this one for South Carolina. Just as was the case a year ago, the Gamecocks are 3-3 and going into a game against Oklahoma. A year ago, South Carolina won the game and went on a major second-half run. Of course, Oklahoma is looking to flip that on its head this season, and bounce back from the loss in Red River.

Both teams were forced to list three offensive linemen as out on their Wednesday availability reports. They also had several players listed as either doubtful, questionable, or probably. So, with that in mind, here’s a look at how both teams updated their reports for Thursday.

Oklahoma Sooners

Out:
OL Troy Everett
OL Jacob Sexton
OL Jake Taylor

Doubtful:
WR Keontez Lewis
TE Kade McIntyre
OL Logan Howland
RB Jovantae Barnes

South Carolina Gamecocks

Out:
OL Nolan Hay
OL Cason Henry
DL Davonte Miles
WR Brian Rowe Jr.

Probable:
DB Brandon Cisse
DL Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy

Questionable:
OL Shedrick Sarratt Jr.

On the initial Wednesday availability report, Oklahoma did not list John Mateer at all. The quarterback returned to action after surgery last week. Now, it appears that he hasn’t suffered any setbacks and is going to be fine moving forward for the Sooners.

That isn’t to say that Oklahoma is injury free. The major concern for the Sooners is going to be along the offensive line. There, three offensive linemen have already been ruled out. That includes Troy Everett, Jacob Sexton, and Jake Taylor. On top of that, Logan Howland was listed as doubtful on the Wednesday availability report. So, keeping Mateer clean in the pocket is going to be tough. Add that three other offensive players landed on the Wednesday report, and the Sooners are going to need to find a spark on the offensive side of the ball.

Interestingly, South Carolina has similar health issues along the offensive line. The Gamecocks have three linemen that were ruled out by Wednesday’s report. That group included Nolan Hay, Shedrick Sarratt Jr, and Cason Henry. Markee Anderson was also listed as questionable. For a team that has struggled to protect quarterback LaNorris Sellers, it’s a major challenge against Oklahoma’s defense.

Those offensive line injuries are the main concern for South Carolina at this point. A few other players, particularly on the defensive side, have been banged up. However, the Gamecocks are healthier at the skill positions than the Sooners are at this point.

Of course, there is still time for players to see their status change ahead of the game. Kickoff is currently scheduled for 12:45 p.m. EST.
