Kirk Herbstreit raves about Alabama football's gameday ops, Bryant-Denny experience

College football broadcasters cover a lot of games, to the point that they can all run together sometimes. Not on Saturday night. Not if you were witness to the Alabama vs. Georgia contest.
Multiple analysts have already declared it one of the best games they’ve ever seen, and ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit had some lofty and unique praise for Alabama.
“Lazy Sunday watching NFL football and still thinking about last nights atmosphere,” Herbstreit tweeted on Sunday afternoon. “Our crew is unbelievably humbled to call these games. Games Ops at [Alabama football] should be a mandatory clinic session for every stadium in North America!”
Herbstreit included a video showing the stadium lights show in effect during the game, adding a special touch to the ambiance on Saturday night.
And if the lights and ops weren’t enough to thoroughly impress you, the game itself certainly did the trick.
Alabama raced out to an early 28-0 lead in the game and it appeared the Crimson Tide were going to walk away with the game. Not so fast, as Herbstreit’s College GameDay co-host Lee Corso would say.

Georgia stormed back to even take a small fourth quarter lead before Alabama finally responded and put the game away. But it led ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum to declare it the best SEC game he’s ever seen.
“I’ve covered the SEC for more than 40 years,” Finebaum said. “You can see that on my face right here, but I believe that is the best college football game in the SEC I have seen during all those years. I know we often get hung up on being prisoners of the moment but that is an exaggeration to say that we are in this case.”
He went on to break down why it was such a compelling contest.
“You saw the lead. You saw the comeback. You saw the ending. It had everything you could have, including the fact that we have this rivalry in the SEC, two of the best teams in the entire country who may or may not play again. It had absolutely everything,” Finebaum said.
“What Kirby Smart said is correct, that is true of both schools, nobody left anything on the field. They put it all out there and if you ask who’s the better team, the better team won, but next time it could be different.”
All in all a pretty special Saturday at Alabama.
