We’ve had Oct. 8 circled on our calendars ever since Alabama and Texas A&M head coaches Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher’s early summer feud over the alleged Aggie NIL recruiting methods. The day has finally arrived – and it couldn’t be more underwhelming.

“This is one of those games where you just wonder how good of a relationship do Jimbo and Nick really have behind closed doors,” Herbstreit said on SportsCenter ahead of College GameDay. “This has a chance to get ugly at Texas A&M. Another offense that is kind of reeling, they don’t have a lot of dynamic playmakers. Now, they still have people up front that can block, but the quarterback issue – their quarterback Max Johnson, I don’t think he’s going to be playing in this game.

“We’ll find out how much Nick really likes Jimbo by the fourth quarter of this game.”

Texas A&M hasn’t looked like a preseason top-10 team by any stretch of the imagination, and Crimson Tide fans have been taking aim at the Aggies since their stunning home loss against Appalachian State.

With Alabama retaining its preseason ranking of the nation’s No. 1 team, the Crimson Tide are favored by more than three scores heading into Saturday night’s SEC West clash. The Aggies’ offensive woes, on paper, won’t bode well against the stellar Alabama defense, and it could be a long night in Tuscaloosa for Jimbo Fisher and company.

Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET live on CBS.

College GameDay crew gives update on Lee Corso’s health

Lee Corso has missed College GameDay for the second consecutive week. While his condition and/or illness hasn’t been specified, the crew in Lawerence, Kansas made sure fans knew has was doing much better than he did last week.

“Lee Corso not with us this week, and those of you who are with us every week know that [Corso] didn’t feel great last week in Clemson,” Rece Davis said. “Feeling much better, spoke to him yesterday, but still another week to recuperate. We hope get LC back in the chair coming up pretty soon.”

Kirk Herbstreit commented on what he’s heard on Corso’s health as well.

“I think it’s very strange for everybody watching, those us on the set, of course, not to having Lee here, but [Rece Davis] spoke with him, I had a chance to, and [Desmond Howard] as I’m sure you have as well,” Herbstreit said. “He does sound better, but I think by doctor’s orders wasn’t expected to be able to travel this week. But news is good with the test that he’s been receiving. New week he’ll be with us wherever College GameDay is, LC will be back right here where he belongs.”

Just as last week, Davis, Herbstreit, Howard and Pat McAfee will make up the four-man main crew for College GameDay.
