Texas QB commit KJ Lacey excited to be part of Elite 11 family

Saraland (Ala.) High On300 quarterback and Texas commit K.J. Lacey is headed to Los Angeles to compete in this week’s Elite 11 Finals.

The 2024 Elite 11 Finals will bring together top performers to receive advanced, one-on-one quarterback instruction in a highly competitive setting. The 2024 Elite 11 Finals will span three days and include on-field drills, competition, classroom instruction and off-field development.  The 2024 Elite 11, and 2024 Elite 11 MVP, will be named at the conclusion of the Elite 11 Finals.

The event kicks off Tuesday night.

“I feel like the best part of it is getting to know the coaches and the other quarterbacks I’ll be throwing with and competing against,” Lacey said. 

The On3 Industry ranks Lacey as the country’s No. 10 quarterback and No. 113 prospect overall.

“Ready to learn a whole lot from the coaches. Also being able to be a part of the Elite 11 is just still really cool to me. Been watching since the Trevor Lawrence and the Justin Fields episodes of it on YouTube. 

“Should be extremely fun.”

The 5-foot-10 1/2, 181-pound Lacey has lit it up the last two seasons en route to state championships, throwing for 3,177 yards and 40 touchdowns as a sophomore, and another 3,448 yards and 42 touchdowns as a junior, completing nearly 70 percent of his passes in the latest campaign.

Lacey has been a verbal to Texas for over a year.

“Texas football is on its way to be the face of college football,” Lacey said, adding he has big goals for himself. “Being the face of the University Texas and Austin, while they are at the top and maintaining that status while getting better and working on my craft while I’m there. 

“It’s gonna be a great time to be a Longhorn!”

Schools like Auburn, Oregon and Ole Miss have worked to stay in contact with Lacey.

“Texas is my primary focus right now,” Lacey said.
