In a relatively surprising move, quarterback Kyle McCord entered the transfer portal after the regular season to leave Ohio State, where he was the starting quarterback. In another interesting move, he landed at Syracuse, where he’s expected to be the starter.

McCord then recently made an appearance on The QB Room, where he played a game of over/under. That included the question of whether or not more than 0.5, or at least one, pass catcher will leave Ohio State and join him at Syracuse.

“I’m gonna say more,” Kyle McCord said.

He didn’t add any more context or details than that. He also didn’t reference a single possible player who could be on the move to Syracuse. However, it is clear that he thinks at least one more Buckeye is gonna be on the way to Syracuse.

The Orange let go of Dino Babers this season and replaced him with Fran Brown. Since then, Syracuse has been highly active in the transfer portal. The Orange have added eight transfers and have the fifth-ranked transfer class in the 2024 On3 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings. Kyle McCord is a big part of that class, as well as former Georgia wide receivers Yazeed Haynes and Jackson Meeks.

For its part, Ohio State has already lost several key wide receivers. Marvin Harrison Jr. is expected to move to the NFL while Julian Fleming has already committed to transfer to Penn State. However, wide receivers Noah Rogers, Bryson Rodgers, and Connor Cmiel are all also in the transfer portal. Tight end Joe Royer is also in the transfer portal.

Only time will tell if Kyle McCord knows something that hasn’t happened yet. However, he certainly comes from a position that would have a lot of insight into this.

Kyle McCord calls his transfer from Ohio State a ‘business decision’

One thing that Kyle McCord did want to make clear about his transfer from Ohio State, it was a business decision for the signal caller.

“I mean you guys know it just as well as I do. At the end of the day, the top level of college football and then especially on to the pros. I mean it’s a business, and at the end of the day Ohio State had to make a business decision that they felt like was best for them and I had to do the same thing,” McCord said.

“Unfortunately, it just wasn’t meant to be for next year but at the end of the day I felt like I put together some solid games and had some good tape. So I was confident when I went in the portal I’d find a good home.”
