Lane Kiffin to announce decision on Ole Miss future Saturday after Egg Bowl, per AD

As rumors swirl around Lane Kiffin’s coaching future, Ole Miss is expecting a decision after the Egg Bowl, according to AD Keith Carter. The two sides met Friday, as On3’s Pete Nakos previously reported.
Kiffin’s future has been one of the biggest storylines in college football, and his name has been heavily connected to the Florida and LSU job openings. On3 previously confirmed his family visited both Baton Rouge and Gainesville over the weekend.
All the while, Ole Miss was going through its bye week ahead of the Egg Bowl against Mississippi State on Black Friday. The day after that game, Carter said, an announcement on Kiffin’s future is expected to come down.
“Coach Kiffin and I have had many pointed and positive conversations regarding his future at Ole Miss, including meeting today with Chancellor Boyce,” Carter wrote in a statement. “While we discuss next steps, we know we cannot lose sight of what is most important – our sixth-ranked team that is poised to finish the regular season in historic fashion.
“Despite the outside noise, Coach Kiffin is focused on preparing our team for the Egg Bowl, and together, we want to ensure that our players and coaches can concentrate fully on next Friday’s game. This team is on the cusp of an unprecedented season, and it’s imperative they feel the support of the Ole Miss family in the week ahead. An announcement on Coach Kiffin’s future is expected the Saturday following the game.”

Lane Kiffin: ‘I’m not speaking on other jobs’
Lane Kiffin’s future has been front and center as Ole Miss goes through its Week 13 bye. During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, he denied the idea of an “ultimatum” to inform the school of a decision by the Egg Bowl, which is scheduled for Black Friday.
Additionally, Kiffin received numerous questions about his next steps during this week’s SEC coaches teleconference. He made it clear he plans on coaching against Mississippi State in the season finale.
“I mean, I’ve been saying the same thing for six years: I’m not speaking on other jobs. I’m focused on this one,” Kiffin said on the SEC coaches teleconference. “… I don’t even understand what the question is. Of course I’m coaching. Unless you guys know something I don’t, or I’m getting fired and I don’t know it.”
Following Ole Miss’ Week 13 bye, the Rebels will head to Starkville for the season finale against Mississippi State. Kickoff for the Egg Bowl is set for Nov. 28 at noon ET on ABC.
