Lane Kiffin explains his feelings on the publicity of relationship between his daughter, Landry, Whit Weeks

Lane Kiffin’s daughter, Landry, and her relationship reveal with LSU linebacker Whit Weeks was one of the biggest storylines heading into last weekend’s matchup between Ole Miss and the Tigers. Kiffin played into it throughout the week on social media.
The Rebels would take the victory 24-19, leaving Kiffin’s daughter’s boyfriend in defeat. The Ole Miss head coach has since addressed the publicity that his daughter’s relationship received leading up to the matchup during a recent appearance on Pardon My Take.
“I think it’s great that I’ve been through so much in my life, ups and downs and all that,” he said. “Having just gone through the E:60 show and having to recap all those things. You get to a point where you’re just like, man, things aren’t really that big of a deal. Just embrace them, go with it.”
Kiffin said that he’s learned to reserve his judgement of situations that happen outside of his control — whether that be his previous firings or his daughter dating a linebacker from an opposing SEC team. His mindset appears to have helped him keep an open perspective on and off the field.
“All those things that you might think are terrible, you don’t know,” Kiffin continued. “They might end up being wonderful things, right? I got fired from USC. I thought my life was over. … Had that not happened, I would have never got a chance to go be with Nick Saban and learn all that, have all those relationships and become a much better coach.

“So, I just embraced it, ran with it. And Whit’s a great kid, great family. So I look at it as like, hey, how blessed are you that you know they’re in a good relationship with great people?”
Kiffin’s coaching career was re-highlighted during the most recent E:60 episode, which also touched on Kiffin’s personal life. This included interviews with both his daughter and his son, who both testified that their father has been a new man since taking the job in Oxford. That positive mindset has translated on the field so far during the 2025 season.
Currently, Kiffin’s Rebels are 5-0 and are off to a 3-0 start to SEC play. They’re set to play Washington State this weekend, but have big-time matchups in the coming weeks against both Georgia and Oklahoma on the road. For now, the Rebels will take on the Cougars on Saturday beginning at 12:45 p.m. ET live on the SEC Network.
