As Ole Miss got ready to take on Florida on Saturday, Lane Kiffin is having his share of fun on social media. He reacted to a post from Florida Gov. Ron Desantis, who is in Oxford for the matchup.

Desantis posted about being a “Florida man in Oxford” prior to Saturday’s game, posing with Ole Miss cheerleaders in the process. Kiffin reposted with a laughing emoji as he continued to enjoy the pregame discourse on X.

Of course, this all comes with the backdrop of rumors around Kiffin’s future in Oxford. His name is heavily in the mix for the Florida job, which is why the repost of Desantis’ post drew some attention.

Earlier Saturday, Kiffin posted a cryptic photo of a “Kiffin 2026” visor and hat ahead of the game. They both appeared to be in Ole Miss colors – light blue letters with red numbers. The hat, which had a blue rope on the brim, included the mantra “B.T.A.” at the bottom.

Kiffin’s name is front-and-center in Florida’s coaching search to replace Billy Napier. That adds to the conversation around Saturday’s game as Ole Miss also looks to continue charting its path toward the College Football Playoff. It’s hard to say what exactly Kiffin meant by that post, though.

Lane Kiffin has been at the forefront of Florida’s coaching search from the start after the program parted ways with Napier last month. On3’s Pete Nakos reported last month Kiffin is Florida’s top choice to take over for Napier, and the rumors are swirling around Saturday’s primetime matchup at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

When asked this week about whether he is addressing the coaching carousel rumors, Kiffin said he has not done so. He’s keeping the focus on the task at hand, which is getting a victory and continuing the quest for a College Football Playoff berth.

“I haven’t even talked about it to them, and I think I’m pretty close to the players, where they walk by or they say something, you know, like, if it was on their mind, they’d make a joke or something,” Kiffin said this week. “I don’t think it is. I think that they’re very focused on what to do.

“Again, I said it’s a different age nowadays, like when I addressed it a couple weeks ago. I certainly don’t think it was a distraction since. We won at OklahomaSouth Carolina, and played really well last week. This is kind of the world that we’re in.”
