Lane Kiffin roasts Brian Kelly over Netflix's SEC Football docu-series, dad's love of Ole Miss

Fans have seldom felt closer to many of the teams and key figures in the SEC than this offseason, with the airing of Netflix’s SEC Football: Any Given Saturday docu-series. LSU coach Brian Kelly has witnessed that firsthand.
The coach was featured heavily on the show. Right or wrong, that leaves you open to scrutiny.
And Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin is always ready to pounce. Brian Kelly went onto The Paul Finebaum Show on Monday and discussed the show and shortly after Kiffin delivered a dagger via social media.
“Well first my dad, who was part of it, he talked about Ole Miss,” Kelly told Finebaum. “I told him he’s not invited to any more games because he loves Lane Kiffin more than he loves me. And who could, right?”
Kiffin wasted little time picking up on that snippet, which was tweeted out by the show’s account. He pounced.
“Sorry [Brian Kelly] maybe it was your dancing when you lost him,” Kiffin wrote. Talk about a zinger.
The reference, of course, is to a viral clip of Kelly’s from early in his tenure. While shooting a short video clip with a recruit, Kelly was seen dancing. Many on social media pointed out how awkward he was.
But both coaches seem to be taking things in stride. Kiffin’s program wasn’t featured on the show, which he explained earlier this fall.

LSU’s was, and many have responded favorably to the coverage. Brian Kelly’s dad, in particular, was a star on the show. And he’s looking to make sure he collects on his NIL at this point.
“Now he wants a stipend. He thinks he’s a star,” Kelly said with a laugh. “It’s been fun. Look, we said we’re just going to be who we are. And if people like us, that’s fine. We really don’t care about it, we’re just going to open up our program.”
For his part, Brian Kelly just wanted to be authentic in the show. From there, he was content to let the chips fall where they may. After all — as Kiffin teased — it’s not like he’s never been called goofy or awkward before.
“I thought it was the right thing to do and let them see that this is who we are on a day-to-day basis,” Kelly said. “It was fun to do. I can’t think like, ‘Oh the camera’s on me, let me come up with something witty.’ I have a hard time pronouncing anyways. The first time I got out in front of the team it sounded like I had a southern accent.”
