Lane Kiffin was at it again online with his latest tweet this afternoon being about Ohio State.

Kiffin shared an article from ESPN that detailed the construction, including the investment for it, of the Buckeyes’ roster for this season.

The piece by Jake Trotter goes in-depth on what Ohio State did to build a contender for 2024.

“Day’s vision became a reality. Buoyed by a name, image and likeness war chest this year of $20 million, according to (Ross) Bjork, the Buckeyes struck gold in the transfer portal,” Trotter wrote.

That plan came together following a new commitment to buy-in from NIL.

“Only two years ago, Day told boosters it would cost $13 million in NIL money for the Buckeyes to put their team together,” Trotter continued. “Tyvis Powell, the director of player engagement for Ohio State’s other collective, the 1870 Society, said in the past the Buckeyes missed out on players they wanted because they didn’t have enough NIL money. Now, industry sources say that Ohio State is among college football’s biggest spenders in NIL.”

“Together with longtime athletic director Gene Smith, who retired this summer, Day rallied prominent boosters to increase their commitments,” added Trotter. “Money began pouring in from small donors, as well. Suddenly, the Buckeyes had the means to execute Day’s offseason plans.”

It’s definitely quite the post by Kiffin with Ohio State and Ole Miss being the two of the biggest winners of the portal cycles this offseason. The Rebels brought in the No. 5 class in On3’s 2024 Team Transfer Portal Rankings. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes added eight transfers themselves, including four in the Top-15 of On3’s 2024 Transfer Portal Top Players.

Between the two of them, Ohio State and Ole Miss added the top three overall players in the portal in S Caleb Downs, DL Walter Nolen, and QB Julian Sayin. They were three of a combined nine total transfers for the pair of programs in the Top-100 and 16 of those that were in the Top-250.

Additionally, the Buckeyes and Rebels both returned several key pieces from their rosters as well. Ohio State brought back 36 lettermen, including nearly three-quarters of their starting lineup, to Columbus while Ole Miss brought back 56 lettermen with essentially all of their starters back in Oxford.

Kiffin is one of the more interesting follows at the collegiate level with what he decides to post about on social media. That was certainly the case again on Monday when he brought the Buckeyes into it on his timeline.
