Ole Miss is out of the NCAA Tournament, meaning Lane Kiffin needs a team to support. Kiffin is known for being friendly with a few fan bases out there, even inside the SEC. Working at multiple places does that to you, still having ties to programs.

As Super Regional play gets underway, Kiffin has decided to roll with the Tennessee Volunteers. An all-SEC matchup is taking place in Fayetteville with a spot on the College World Series on the line. Kiffin will be rooting for Tennessee to get there over Arkansas.

Per usual, Kiffin went to social media to make the declaration. You can check out the tweet from the Ole Miss football head coach here.

Game 1 of the regional is taking place on Saturday, a later start than other Super Regionals. A game on Sunday is guaranteed, while a potential Game 3 is scheduled for Monday. These types of matchups have produced plenty of drama in years past, especially with two teams who are quite familiar with one another.

Kiffin is not likely to show up at Baum-Walker Stadium, having recruiting weekends to attend to with Ole Miss. But if he were, the Tennessee orange might come back on to support the Vols.

ESPN’s Greg McElroy explains not having Ole Miss defense in top 10

ESPN’s Greg McElroy took time to go through some of college football’s top defenses entering the 2025 season, compiling a top 10 list. Ole Miss did not make the cut, falling into the honorable mention category. One season after having a top unit, the Rebels appear to have room to improve.

McElroy did provide some reasoning as to why the Rebels are outside of the top 10. He is worried about the personnel Ole Miss lost to the NFL Draft this offseason. While there is still defensive talent on the roster, McElroy does not see it at the same level.

“They do make the top 10 this year because of some of the significant turnover,” McElroy said. “Look, I love Pete Golding as a defensive coordinator, it’s his third year there. He’s done a great job in his first two years. It went from being a remarkably mediocre group, across the board, to becoming one of the best defenses and one of the most disruptive defenses over the last two years…

“But the personnel losses are just too significant for me to overlook… I just don’t think they have enough back this upcoming year to think that it’s going to be the exact same as it was.”
