SEC play kicks off for No. 23 Missouri Saturday night in a home clash against a banged up South Carolina team, fresh off an embarrassing 31-7 loss at home to Vanderbilt last weekend.

Carolina opened the season with a 24-11 win over Virginia Tech and a 38-10 win over South Carolina State, but was completely outmatched at home by Diego Pavia and the Commodores. Missouri has coasted through its first three games of the season, enjoying wins over Central Arkansas, Kansas and Louisiana.

Ahead of Saturday’s game, the SEC released a new league availability report Thursday night. This includes the latest on QB LaNorris Sellers.

The biggest question mark heading into this matchup surrounds South Carolina star quarterback LaNorris Sellers. Sellers, who suffered a concussion against Vanderbilt, was listed as questionable on the initial SEC injury report Wednesday night. Sellers went down Saturday after taking a hit from Vanderbilt linebacker Langston Patterson in the final two minutes of the second quarter. Patterson was ejected from the game for targeting on the play.

South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer said earlier this week to refer to the injury report for Sellers’ status. He shared his frustration about the targeting call in his halftime interview on Saturday.

“I asked him as soon as it happened if [they were] looking at it for targeting,” Beamer said. “For our quarterback to be lying there on the ground like that, he probably got hit in the head. And then, for whatever reason, it took them a while to buzz down.

“So, I don’t know what’s going on in Birmingham or wherever they look at it, but I thought it was pretty obvious.”

While it’s been a tumultuous last week for South Carolina, vibes are high on the Missouri side. Under head coach Eli Drinkwitz, the Tigers have won seven of their last eight games (dating back to last season) and 11 of their last 16 conference games (dating back to 2023). Missouri had won five consecutive games against South Carolina prior to last season, where the Gamecocks came out on top 34-30 at home.
