Auburn is expected to start Jackson Arnold at quarterback at Arkansas on Saturday, sources tell On3. Head coach Hugh Freeze said earlier this week that he was re-evaluating the quarterback situation.

The Tigers are 3-4 overall and 0-4 in the SEC, and have struggled offensively in the second half in losses to Georgia and Missouri. Auburn gave Arnold and backup quarterback Ashton Daniels reps with the first team this week.

“Yeah, we’re looking at everything,” Freeze said of personnel changes on offense earlier this week. “You have to start looking when, as well as Jackson, played in the first half of the last two games, you still have to start looking at everything of, alright, why do we not have the winning ways, and, sitting here, feeling like we do? We’re going to get (Jackson) and Ashton a lot of reps, and kind of see where it goes from there.”

Arnold has thrown for 1,190 yards on the season with five touchdowns and an interception. He’s also rushed for 261 yards with seven touchdowns. The Oklahoma transfer finished with 207 yards on 18 of 30 passing against Missouri. It was the second consecutive game he led Auburn’s offense to a score on its opening drive.

Freeze did not rule out the possibility of switching quarterbacks against Arkansas if Arnold does not start well.

“See how it plays out,” Freeze said. “We started out really, really well in the last few games and hope that continues to be the case. But I did think if we start to sputter, we’ve got to see if we can get a spark. That’s kind of the mentality of where we’re at. I know that they’re ready, [Ashton Daniels] and [Deuce Knight].”

Auburn visits Arkansas on Saturday, with kickoff scheduled on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
