Live Updates: 4-star OT Monroe Freeling commitment ceremony

MOUNT PLEASANT — Mount Pleasant (S.C.) Oceanside Collegiate Academy four-star offensive tackle Monroe Freeling has made up his mind, and he will announce his decision today.

Freeling is down to five final contenders for her services: Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia and Miami.

The four-star offensive tackle is one of the best lineman in the country, ranking at No. 35 overall and as the No. 5 offensive tackle in the 2023 On300 ranking. At 6-foot-8 and 285 pounds, Freeling resembles former first-round pick and UCLA player Kolton Miller.

The ceremony is happening at 7:30 p.m. EST at D1 Sports East Cooper.

7:41 p.m. EST: Freeling has said that he is looking for a school great academic, strong culture and offensive lineman development. He feels the Bulldogs are the best fit in those categories.

7:39 p.m. EST: Monroe Freeling has committed to Georgia.

7:37 p.m. EST: He is introducing his family to everyone. He has started with the thank yous: thanking middle school coaches for being first to believe, thanking high school coaches, thanking teammates and thanking brothers for the fights and video games. He is honored to be recruited and never thought he’d be in this spot.

7:35 p.m. EST: It’s started. He said he’s doing well, looking for development and academics and that the school environment was important too.

7:31 p.m. EST: The noise drops and we are about 2 minutes from starting.

7:27 p.m. EST: Everyone is just sitting and waiting. The event should start going live in the 3 minutes.

7:08 p.m. EST: More family members, some friends, and other media outlets are tricking in.

7:05 p.m. EST: The buzz has been around Georgia late, but I’ve heard more than one other school has tried to make a push late. Florida and Miami haven’t given up on Freeling. He’s spoken to “numerous” schools today I’m told

6:58 p.m. EST: The whole family — mom, dad and brothers — have now arrived as well. No real colors teasing anything with what the family is wearing. They are mainly wearing white but the dad is in a blue button up shirt.
