Live Updates: Hykeem Williams Commitment Ceremony
Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Stranahan five-star wide receiver Hykeem Williams is announcing his college commitment today.
He is down to Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Pitt and Texas A&M. Williams is the No. 20 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
On3’s Joseph Hastings is on the scene in South Florida and will be providing updates ahead of Williams’ commitment, which is expected to occur around 2 p.m.

2:33 p.m. EST: One of Williams’ family members told me he isn’t changing his mind despite possibly taking more visits after committing. “He’s too loyal.”
2:18 p.m. EST: Hykeem Williams has committed to Florida State.
2:14 p.m. EST: Williams said FSU is the hardest working team he’s seen. Says they’re building over there.
2:13 p.m. EST: Hykeem calls Texas A&M the best college campus he’s been there. Enjoyed his time there last weekend.
2:10 p.m. EST: Williams has arrived in a suit and is making his way into the stage now.
1:59 p.m. EST: Things are getting started. There’s a few people sitting on the couch on the stage. Williams’ teammates are in their jerseys on the gym floor. Williams should be coming through any minute now.
1:54 p.m. EST: Event organizer just ran by and said that Williams is here.
1:38 p.m. EST: Gym is filling up with Stranahan High School students. The ceremony was expected to start at 1:30, but people are still coming in. Still seems like it’ll be another 15-20 minutes things get going.
1:30 p.m. EST: Members of Williams’ family have arrived. They’re sporting shirts with Williams on them and his six finalists. His mom’s first cousin, Williams’ grandmother, and his great-grandmother are seated. Williams’ mom’s first cousin believes it will be Georgia or Florida State; his great-grandmother believes it will be Pittsburgh.
1:16 p.m. EST: Williams just texted me and confirmed that he will be arriving at 1:30.
1:06 p.m. EST: We know about hat science, but what about face poster science? At this time, there are three cardboard posters with Williams’ face on each of them on the stage. On the back of each poster is a logo for a school. Those schools are Florida State, Georgia, and Miami. We’ll see if anymore pop up.
1:03 p.m. EST: Here is what the scene looks like. Near the main gym entrance is a stage that’s been set up. There are football posters of Williams. There is a couch that can seat four people — Williams, his mother, his sister and a special guest. Also on the stage is a big screen that’s currently playing his football highlights. In front of that stage is a table with hats rotating on top of them. Twenty-nine chairs are on the main gym floor.
In the back of the gym is a curtain with two standup posters of Williams and a banner that he’ll run through. Definitely one of the more impressive commitment ceremony setups you’ll find.
12:59 p.m. EST: Just received the schedule. According to the event organizer, Hykeem Williams is expected to arrive at 1:30. He will walk through the doors in the back of the gym before running through a banner that has him on it. He’ll then do an interview in the middle of the gym. Williams will make his way to the stage, take a few questions, then reveal his decision.
12:47 p.m. EST: The hats are out but these are not your normal hats. They are hats placed inside display cases and on top of rotating platforms. Williams is going all out for the event.
