LOOK: 2022 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament bracket revealed
With the regular season coming to a close this weekend, the bracket for the 2022 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament was revealed Saturday evening. The tournament is set to tip off Wednesday at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
The Auburn Tigers earned the No. 1 seed for the first time since 2018 and just the third time in school history after a 27-4 finish to the season. They most recently handed South Carolina an 82-71 loss on Saturday.
Tennessee and Kentucky finished in a tie for second place in the conference, with the Volunteers winning the tiebreaker to claim the second seed. Arkansas is the four seed, and will thus be the final team to automatically advance to the quarterfinals on Friday.
Last year’s SEC Tournament champion, Alabama, enters this year as the No. 6 seed. The Crimson Tide dropped their final two games of the regular season, but could be a difficult out for some of the higher-ranked opponents. They would run into Kentucky in the quarterfinals if they take care of their second round opponent.
The championship game is set to be played at 1 p.m. ET on Selection Sunday. Below is the full TV schedule for the 2022 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament.
