Louisville lands the No. 1 recruit in the state in four-star RB Evan Hampton

Owensboro (Ky.) High On300 running back Evan Hampton has committed to Louisville.
The four-star Hampton chose the Cardinals over the likes of Michigan, Vanderbilt, NC State and Kentucky.
“Just felt like home,” Hampton told On3.
As a junior Hampton averaged nearly 10 yards per carry in gaining 1,609 yards and scoring 24 touchdowns. He has the traits to be electric in head coach Jeff Brohm’s program.
“The coaches were key, I had some great relationships built,” Hampton said. “I love what Coach Brohm has going and I want to be a part of it.”

On3 tabs the 6-foot, 200-pound Hampton as the nation’s No. 17 running back and No. 169 prospect overall. He is the No. 1 overall prospect in the state.
Duke and Indiana were among the other programs to offer Hampton. Louisville’s class grows to 11 with Hampton in the fold. The Cardinals are pushing for a Top 25 class in the 2026 cycle.
“Just felt like the right decision for me,” Hampton said.
