LSU adds 2 more 2026 commitments on July 4, boasts highest average rating

LSU celebrated the Fourth of July with some fireworks of its own on the recruiting trail, landing two commitments to its already impressive 2026 class.

The Tigers stayed put at No. 6 in the class rankings following pledges from Mississippi four-star offensive tackle Bryson Cooley, who picked the Tigers over Alabama, Ole Miss and Mississippi State, and in-state star Isaiah Washington gave LSU another boost, committing to Brian Kelly and the Tigers after a breakout offseason on the track and field circuit raised his national profile.

“It’s really the place I’ve been having my mind on, and I’ve been feeling really invited and ready to actually get there — have a great last year of high school and get ready to get there,” Washington told The Bengal Tiger’s Jerit Roser.

Washington, a dynamic athlete from Haynesville High, became the 14th commitment in LSU’s 2026 class, including eight in-state prospects and five defensive backs. With a class that already includes several blue-chip talents, the Tigers hold the highest average player rating in the country at 92.07—an early sign of elite quality. And they’re far from done.

LSU remains firmly in the mix for several top uncommitted prospects, including five-star standouts Lamar Brown and Darius Gray, along with highly coveted four-star receiver Jase Matthews.
