LSU vs. Ole Miss: Early point spread released on Tigers vs. Rebels

In what will be a highly anticipated SEC West showdown following Week 4’s action in the SEC, LSU and Ole Miss are set to square off next weekend and the early point spread is out.
Based on Las Vegas’ odds, it appears the oddsmakers are anticipating a reasonably competitive contest, with LSU opening up as a 1.5-point favorite in the contest, according to FanDuel.
The Tigers have won six of the last seven meetings in the series, including last year’s 45-20 romp over the Rebels.
Both programs have eyes on the SEC West title, which LSU won last year, though it will be a difficult journey to get there and one that is just beginning, as evidenced by the tight early point spread. That makes the SEC West clash all the more important.
LSU got off to a shaky start to the year with a loss to a very good Florida State team, though that loss won’t factor into the conference title race. The Tigers have bounced back quite nicely since then.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels is settled in and playing his best football of late, giving the Tigers a dual-threat quarterback that is tough to stop once he gets rolling. He’ll have an equally competent counterpart on the other side.
Ole Miss has relied heavily on Jaxson Dart to lead the offense, as the ground game hasn’t quite gotten rolling the way the Rebels want so far. But Dart has been up to the task, running for 136 yards and two scores against Georgia Tech and passing for 334 yards and four against Mercer.
He can do it all on any given day. The Rebels would like him not to have to.
And it’s not like there’s not talent for Ole Miss on the ground. Sophomore Quinshon Judkins was one of the nation’s best a year ago but has yet to get fully on track this fall.
Both programs will need their aces at their best in the pivotal SEC West clash, as the early point spread indicates.
LSU and Ole Miss will meet at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday, with a broadcast slated for ESPN.
