Macaleab Rich down to 4 schools with commitment nearing
East St. Louis (Ill.) High three-star recruit Macaleab Rich tells On3 he’s down to four schools: Kansas State, Missouri, Ole Miss, and Illinois-Chicago.
The 6-foot-7, 225-pound small forward visited Missouri in late August and Ole Miss over the weekend. He’s scheduled to visit Kansas State this upcoming weekend, September 10th. Illinois-Chicago will be his fifth and final visit on September 16th.
The St. Louis native will announce his college decision on his birthday, September 26th.
Rich ranks as the No. 167 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. Jamie Shaw, On3’s National Recruiting Analyst, says you can expect to see Rich’s name in the top-150 in the next rankings update.
Macaleab Rich breaks down each of his finalists
Kansas State: “Kansas State has an amazing coaching staff and definitely shows a lot of love and has amazing fans and people around the program. I haven’t gotten to see the campus yet, but I will be going on my official visit this weekend, September 9-11, and checking things out. I’m looking forward to the visit!”
Missouri: “Missouri is a nice program. It’s only two hours away from home with a great coaching staff and some cool players on and off the court with a beautiful campus.”
Ole Miss: “Also another really nice program with some amazing coaches. The players show love and are great on and off the court. They have a nice campus and great fans.”
UIC: “UIC is a very great program even though it’s not a big D1. They still show major love and it feels like family to me. I will also be visiting them on September 16th-18th. I’m looking forward to the visit.”
What’s Rich looking for in a school?
“I want to go somewhere where they welcome me like home,” Rich said recently to On3’s Jamie Shaw. “I’d like to catch a great vibe with everyone, the players and coaches. I want to be confident it’s what fits me and my family best. … Man, I just really like to hoop. I want to play in a system that gets up and down the floor and pushes the ball.”
