Alabama and Vanderbilt are set to meet in arguably the game of the week, a showdown that will have high-level SEC and College Football Playoff implications. And the injury report looms large.

We have a decent idea what to expect out of both teams now, given that they filed an official injury report on Wednesday ahead of the matchup. That revealed which players to watch going forward into the rest of the week.

Alabama has already made a handful of definitive rulings, as has Vanderbilt. So which players are out for the contest? The injury report on Thursday provides further answers.

Alabama’s initial report on Wednesday included just four names, but all four names will miss at least some of the team’s game against Vanderbilt this weekend. Not all will miss the full thing.

Defensive lineman James Smith will miss the first half after being ejected from the Georgia game last week for targeting. He’ll be available to return in the second half.

Elsewhere, linebackers Qua Russaw and Jah-Marien Latham have been declared out, while defensive lineman Jeremiah Beaman is also out for the contest. That will leave the Alabama a little shorthanded in the front seven defensively.

Notably, though, talented safety Keon Sabb was not listed on the injury report and figures to be available. That’s big news for the Tide.

“He’ll be playing Saturday,” head coach Kalen DeBoer said on the SEC coaches teleconference. “Yeah, he’ll be playing on Saturday.”

On the other side, Vanderbilt listed a handful of players on the injury report. At least two will have a chance to play this weekend.

Cornerback Mark Davis was listed as questionable to play against Alabama on Wednesday, while defensive lineman Yilanan Ouattara was listed as doubtful. Both will continue to bear monitoring going into the rest of the week.

A handful of others were listed as out for Vanderbilt going into the Alabama game. The game will begin at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday with a broadcast on ABC.
