Marquette lacrosse players Scott Michaud, Noah Snyder killed in car wreck

A tragic story has emerged out of Milwaukee, as two members of the Marquette men’s lacrosse team were killed in a car accident on Friday night. The Associated Press reported the news on Saturday afternoon.
According to the AP, Marquette officials confirmed that Scott Michaud and Noah Snyder died in the crash and three other lacrosse players were taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to police.
Marquette president Kimo Ah Yun posted a lengthy statement to social media on Saturday recognizing the deaths. It’s clear the loss will sting for the Marquette community.
“Dear Marquette community, as we continue to mourn and grieve last night’s loss of two Marquette University students, I am writing to share with you some additional information,” Kimo Ah Yun wrote. “The two students were Noah Snyder and Scott Michaud, both student-athletes on the Marquette men’s lacrosse team. Both Noah and Scott were strong students, being named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team in their first year at Marquette for maintaining a 3.0 grade point average.
“Please keep Noah and Scott’s parents, siblings and families, and the Marquette Athletics and college communities in your prayers. Noah and Scott’s lives were taken too soon and we share in the heartbreak of their teammates, coaches and those who knew them personally.”

Marquette celebrated Mass in honor of the two students on Saturday afternoon. The university made accommodations to seat more people.
“To better accommodate the campus community, today’s Mass at 1 p.m. has been moved to the Varsity Theatre,” Kimo Ah Yun wrote. “As a reminder, the Lunda Room and Henke Lounge in the AMU will be available from noon to 3 p.m. for Marquette community members to come together.”
The Associated Press also reported a bit on the driver of the vehicle that struck the lacrosse players. It wrote:
“Police said an investigation is ongoing and criminal charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County district attorney’s office. The police report didn’t name the 41-year-old driver, who was taken into custody.”
