Miami Hurricanes land commitment from No. 1 recruit Jackson Cantwell

Nearly every day since the fall, the On3 Industry’s No. 1 ranked recruit Jackson Cantwell heard from Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal.
On Tuesday, the Hurricanes got their man.
During a ceremony at Nixa (Mo.) High, the Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle announced his pledge to Cristobal and The U. As On3’s Pete Nakos reported, with an offer around the two-million dollar mark, Miami had the biggest NIL offer on the table, and they also had what Cantwell was looking for on the field.
“Miami excites me a lot because they have an offensive-line oriented coach in Mario Cristobal,” Cantwell has said in the past. “I like Coach Cristobal a lot.
“I think Coach Mirabal is a top five O-line coach in the country. Even that could be a little like subjective where in the top five it would be. He does a fantastic job. He does a great developing. They always seem to have the right guys on the offensive line.”
Cantwell visited for Miami’s win over Duke during the fall and returned for a multi-day visit in the spring. Cristobal and Mirabel pushed the fact they helped develop guys like Jonah Williams, Penei Sewell and Francis Mauigoa who looks like the next three and done prospect.

That’s what Cantwell aims to be.
“Their staff, they’re known for wanting to develop offensive linemen,” Cantwell said. “They want to have a great offensive line.”
Miami pushes into the Top 10 of the On3 Industry Recruiting Rankings with the 6-foot-7.5, 305-pound Cantwell in the fold, rising to No. 8.
Scouting New Miami Commit Jackson Cantwell
On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power breaks down the new Hurricanes commit.
“Big-framed offensive tackle with eye-popping athleticism and functional strength as a high school underclassman. Measured at over 6-foot-7, 305 pounds prior to his sophomore season. Has solid length with 33.5-inch arms and big hands.
“Owns a phenomenal athletic profile as one of the top shot put throwers in the country for his age group. Posted a personal best throw of over 64 feet as a freshman. Also posted strong testing numbers in the college camp setting.
“Transfers those gifts over to the football field where he shows strong coordination and function strength. Moves well laterally and plays with a good anchor. Initially began his career as a tight end and has grown into an offensive tackle. Has deep athletic bloodlines with both parents being Olympic track and field athletes as throwers. Younger for the cycle with a May birthday.”
