Miami quarterback Cam Ward is like many college football players in that he is a big fan of the new College Football 25 videogame.

Ward is ranked an 89 overall on the game, which he is just fine with. But there’s one area in particular he feels like he was shorted.

“They’ve gotta have me breaking tackles in the backfield,” Cam Ward said at ACC Kickoff. “I get on here, I see Quinn Ewers, Jalen Milroe, they obviously break tackles in the backfield. They don’t got me breaking tackles in the backfield. Man, that’s the only thing they gotta fix.”

While it may feel to Ward like he is behind Quinn Ewers as far as breaking tackles, that’s actually not the case.

EA Sports has Cam Ward at 89 break sack, 70 strength, 80 break tackle, 70 trucking and 68 stiff arm. For comparison, Quinn Ewers is at 68 break sack, 56 strength, 64 break tackle, 45 trucking and 36 stiff arm. Ewers is rated higher overall, though, coming in with a 92 rating.

To be fair to Ward, he is behind Jalen Milroe in those categories. Milroe is rated with a 97 break sack, 75 strength, 82 break tackle, 77 trucking and 78 stiff arm.

Ward doesn’t love every ranking he has in the game, but there is one area where he feels like College Football 25 nailed his rating.

“That deep ball. They’ve got me throwing it deep,” he said.

Ward has an excellent arm on the game, coming in with 94 throw power, 91 short throw accuracy, 92 medium throw accuracy and 87 deep throw accuracy. He also has a 91 rating for throwing on the run.

Cam Ward on competing for ACC title: ‘It would mean a lot’

Miami quarterback Cam Ward has big goals for his senior season of college football. The Washington State transfer is a part of a loaded Hurricanes roster that is hoping to bring Miami its first ever ACC title in 2024.

Ward spoke at the ACC Kickoff event recently about what it would mean to him to bring Miami an ACC Championship.

“It would mean a lot to me, especially because of how bad I want to win,” Cam Ward said. “I haven’t won anything tremendous at the Power 5 level. That’s something I really want to do is win a championship.”

Ward started his college career at Incarnate Word, before transferring to Washington State. He had impressive individual stats in 2022 and 2023, but the Cougars won only 12 games total.

He is hopeful that individual success and team success will go hand in hand during his time at Miami.

“If we win an ACC Championship, I think that would take care of a lot of the individual awards that we want,” Cam Ward said. “The more we win games the more everybody will get blessed.”
