Miami, South Carolina cancel home and home series in 2026, '27

Miami and South Carolina have canceled their home and home series for football in 2026 and ’27, per On3’s own Brett McMurphy. With both the ACC and SEC pivoting to nine-game conference schedules, the Hurricanes and Gamecocks had to remove the out-of-conference matchup from the slate.
Miami was scheduled to play at South Carolina on Saturday, September 5th in 2026, giving the Gamecocks a home game in Columbia. Now, that will no longer happen.
As it stands right now, Miami is 5-0 on the current season and ranked No. 2 in the AP Poll. South Carolina is 3-2 on the season and unranked.
The Hurricanes are coming off a big win over Florida State on the road, but had to hang on for the 28-22 win after blowing a 28-3 lead. Still, Mario Cristobal and Miami are thinking national title at this point. But, it’s one week at a time and getting better each week, to use coach-speak.
“Proud of our guys for our effort, toughness, got off to three great quarters of football, not so great in the fourth but enough to get the win,” Cristobal said. “Got significant contributions from a lot of guys. Looking forward to getting to work, getting better and an excellent Louisville team coming in (next Friday).”

Miami, South Carolina won’t play in 2026 and ’27
So while Miami is rolling right now, South Carolina comes off a bye week. They were most recently in action on September 27th, a 35-13 win over Kentucky.
“Just keep getting better. That’s why I love this team so much,” head coach Shane Beamer said after the game when asked about carrying good energy into the bye week. “We’ve got a lot of work to do. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot that we’ll see from this tape to correct. But to win an SEC game against a really good team by 22 points and make the plays that we did on defense and offensively, continuing to see good stuff, it’s a lot to build on.
“We know the month of October doesn’t get any easier, but we’re 3-2 coming out of September. We certainly hoped and expected to be 5-0 in a lot of ways, and we’re not. We’re 3-2 and got an off week to get healthy and get better and keep working.”
