Miami star Rueben Bain eats ‘Billy Napier’s finest’ barbecued gator after win vs. Florida

To the victor go the spoils, and Miami players were feasting on theirs after knocking off rival Florida 26-7 on Saturday evening. Literally.
Star defensive lineman Rueben Bain was part of a post-game interview that showed off the post-game menu for the ‘Canes. Speaking with 104.3 WQAM, he revealed the team was dining on alligator. Not just any alligator, either.
“I’m eating some barbecued gator from Gainesville, man,” Bain said with a laugh. “Billy Napier‘s finest.”
Miami earned the right to celebrate the win after withstanding a late push from Florida. The Hurricanes took charge early in the contest but stalled offensively midway through.
After building a 13-0 lead, Miami watched Florida claw one back to make it 13-7. Then quarterback Carson Beck threw an interception and it looked like the Gators might be back in it.
Bain and his Miami teammates never panicked. Not at all.
“Football is football,” Bain said. “Some guys, they come in and they on scholarship too, so they’re going to make plays too. The coaches they are on us that whatever happens to stick together, and that’s what happened. Ups and downs throughout the games. But we stuck together and we still played a complete game as a team.”

The Miami defense earned much of the credit for the win. Florida was held to 141 yards of total offense. Meanwhile, Florida went 0-for-13 on third down attempts.
“About as good as you can get. Some people gonna call it perfect,” Bain said. “But it was a good game. I ain’t even realize that, not going to lie, I thought they had at least one or two conversions. But 0-for-13, it don’t get no better than that.”
That said, the star Miami pass rusher felt like he had more in the tank. That’s the kind of hunger his coaches will love to see.
“Even that last play I was frustrated leaving the game,” Bain said. “I missed about three sacks just on that last drive. So back to the drawing board for me, I really ain’t too happy.”
