Miami WR Cam Vaughn to leave program, Mario Cristobal confirms
Wide receiver Cam Vaughn is set to leave the Miami football program after being dismissed, Mario Cristobal confirmed Monday morning on WQAM radio. He committed to the Hurricanes this year after spending the 2026 season at West Virginia and beginning his college career at Jacksonville State.
Vaughn committed to Miami in January after one year in Morgantown. He hauled in 35 receptions for 541 yards and four touchdowns after re-joining Rich Rodriguez at West Virginia. The two previously worked together at Jacksonville State, where Vaughn totaled 803 receiving yards and five touchdowns as a redshirt freshman in 2024.

In 2025, Vaughn was also one of the highest-graded players on the WVU offense, according to Pro Football Focus. He emerged as a key playmaker for the Mountaineers in his lone season in Morgantown.
After entering the transfer portal, Vaughn became the No. 201 overall player in the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings. He was also the No. 36-ranked wide receiver to hit the open market during the 2026 portal cycle.
Vaughn played high school football at Temple (Ga.) before arriving at Jacksonville State in 2023. He committed to West Virginia as the No. 439 overall player and No. 73-ranked wide receiver to enter the transfer portal from the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Portal Rankings.
Cam Vaughn was one of 13 players to commit to Miami out of the transfer portal this past cycle. That group includes former Duke wide receiver Cooper Barkate, who was one of the marquee additions for the Hurricanes after last year’s run to the national title game.
Barkate was a top target for Darian Mensah and the Blue Devils a season ago. He hauled in 72 receptions for 1,106 yards and seven touchdowns to help lead the offense. Of course, he and Mensah will maintain their connection at Miami after the ACC Championship MVP also committed to the Hurricanes out of the portal.
In addition to the new faces added through the portal and on the high school recruiting trail, Miami also retained top talent on offense this year. Running back Mark Fletcher Jr. and wide receiver Malachi Toney are both running it back in Coral Gables after helping lead the Hurricanes to the title game last year.
