Charlotte (N.C.) Charlotte Christian four-star Micah Gilbert has narrowed his list of top schools down to seven. Gilbert’s list includes Duke, Michigan, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, South Carolina and Virginia Tech.

Gilbert is the No. 295 overall prospect and No. 48 wide receiver in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 6 player in North Carolina.

On3 ranks Gilbert higher than the other three major recruiting outlets according to the Industry Comparison. He’s ranked as the No. 207 player in the country, the No. 35 wide receiver and the No. 7 player in North Carolina.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has South Carolina with a narrow lead over several schools to land Gilbert’s commitment.

“There are a lot of things that can happen at the end of the day,” Gilbert told On3 in March. “It’s all based on performance. Kyron (Jones) had an amazing season last season. He deserved to play at that level before it just came a little later. That’s why I’m keeping it open right now. I feel like I can go anywhere.”

The spring has been a busy time for Gilbert as he’s visited several of the schools in his top seven over the last month.

He kicked off March with a visit to Clemson on March 13 and followed that up with trips to South Carolina (March 14), Pittsburgh (March 17), Penn State (March 18), Michigan (March 19) and North Carolina (April 1).

“It was a really good visit, good first day of spring practice,” Gilbert told Gamecock Central following the South Carolina visit. “It was good to see how things operated. And I really liked the feeling at practice. Very Competitive and really looked like dudes were still having fun.”

Gilbert currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $51K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
