Chandler (Ariz.) Basha three-star cornerback Miles Lockhart is announcing his commitment on July 6. He shared the news Monday night over Twitter.

Lockhart is the No. 403 overall prospect and No. 39 cornerback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 8 player in Arizona.

Lockhart previously told On3’s Chad Simmons on Jan. 20 that Ohio State, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Northwestern pulled ahead in his recruitment. He has already set an official visit to the Buckeyes for the weekend of June 17, and knows that the Ducks and Utes will also get officials.

Lockhart is focusing on a select group of schools

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Ohio State has a commanding lead for Lockhart’s commitment at 96.6%. The three-star is spending today on an unofficial visit to Columbus.

“What keeps me going back to Ohio State is that home feeling,” Lockhart told Simmons on March 22. “They bring so much to the table. I like the love they show me, how strong the program is and with them recruiting me hard, I have to keep getting back. I talk to Tim Walton a lot and coach (Jim) Knowles a good bit. It is just a good feeling for me with Ohio State.”

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound defensive back also recently spoke with Simmons about his interest in Oregon and Utah. He visited both Pac-12 schools last year.

“I just love Utah,” Lockhart said. “I always say it, but they are just different. They develop their guys. Utah may not get all the four-and-five-stars, but they coach their players up and develop their players. That stands out. Their defense is always strong too.”

“I might go back to Oregon for the spring game,” he also shared. “That is something I am thinking about. My teammate Cole Martin is there, his dad coaches there and it is a place I really like. I have been there twice and I like the coaches, the environment and what the coaches do.”

Wisconsin was not previously mentioned by Lockhart as a top contender. However, the Badgers have his attention following their coaching change this offseason.

“Wisconsin is being considered for an official visit,” Lockhart said. “I have a teammate going there and I have talked to Luke Fickell. It is something I am thinking about.”
