Missouri fan kicks football at Kansas sideline during promotion

Some people are experiencing the Border War for the first time in their adult lives. Missouri and Kansas renewed the rivalry on Saturday, currently taking place in Columbia. And while the younger crowd might not have much experience in the matchup, the dislike is still there.
Just ask this one Missouri fan, who could have attempted to win $25,000. He decided to go after Kansas and its sideline, though. A kick through the uprights meant the money was all his. But the ball instead went horizontal toward the Jayhawks before a message was revealed.
“#Mizzou brought a fan onto the field to kick a 45-yard field goal for a chance to win $25k,” Eli Hoff of The St. Louis Dispatch said via X. “Instead, he pulled up his shirt to reveal “F KU” on his chest and kicked the ball at the Kansas sideline.”
Shortly after, a video of the moment emerged in the replies. A great moment you will only find in college football.
Thankfully, the kick did not have too much power behind it. Nobody in Kansas colors was in real danger of being hit. More than anything, he was just looking to show the rivalry is still alive and well. And then maybe a little bit more. His presumed hatred for KU means a whole lot more than potentially winning a quarter of a million dollars.

“Obviously, it’s an important game to a lot of people, and our team fully is aware of the importance of this game to our fans and state and what it represents nationally and what it represents, you know, in a historical significance, we’ve embraced it, we understand it, we’ve taught about it, we’ve made sure our team knows about it,” Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz said about the Border War before the game. “We’ve had guest speakers.”
Fans certainly brought the passion — evidenced by this in-stadium promotion — and Drinkwitz wants his players to do the same. Coming out with a win would be enormous for the program, potentially kickstarting what could be a special season in Columbia. Missouri might have bigger long-term goals but they understand what beating Kansas means.
Plenty of time remains inside Faurot Field. Most of the game has provided us with good offense, having times where the momentum has swung. Maybe a little extra spark can be provided by this fan, for either Missouri or Kansas.
