Arizona State caught a stray during the alternate Simpsons-themed broadcast of the Monday Night Football game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys.

In an attempt to recreate the player introductions on the regular broadcast, the network had Simpsons characters state their name and college instead. When Krusty the Clown popped up on screen, he took a shot at the Sun Devils as he described his education.

“Hershel Krustofsky, clown college, also known as ASU,” the character said as he laughed.

Although Arizona State took a jab here, it’s been a pretty good year to be a Sun Devil. ASU won the Big 12 Championship over the weekend to punch its ticket to the College Football Playoff, where it will have a first-round bye.

The Sun Devils will either play Clemson or Texas in the quarterfinals of the CFP. They enter having won six straight games behind running back Cam Skattebo, who has rushed for at least 100 yards in each of the past three games.

The jab from the Simpsons broadcast seemed to be taking a shot at the education level one gets at ASU, and while it’s surely no Stanford, it’s still a respectable school. The joke seemed to be all in good fun so hopefully Arizona State and football fans as a whole can laugh at it.

Kenny Dillingham says Arizona State players can enter transfer portal and still play in College Football Playoff

Kenny Dillingham isn’t trying to dissuade Arizona State players from entering the portal ahead of the College Football Playoff. In fact, he revealed Monday when the portal opened that any who do are still welcome to compete with the Sun Devils this postseason.

Players will have until Dec. 28 to enter the portal before it closes, but teams who are still competing in the postseason will get an additional five days after their seasons end. Many ASU players told Dillingham they intended to take that route, but he responded by encouraging them to enter now to maximize their opportunities.

“Our guys have the opportunity to stay on our football team, and they’re like, ‘We’ll go in (the portal) at the end,’ and I go, ‘No, that’s not fair to you to go in after our run is over,” Dillingham said. “‘I want you to have the best opportunity to find a spot. You can go in day one right now, we’ll help you find a spot, and stay on our football team if you want to stay on our football team and let’s go on this ride together the rest of the way.’”
