Murray State trolls Ole Miss, SEC after winning Oxford Regional, knocking out Rebels

Murray State was one of several teams to pull upsets in the opening weekend of the 2025 NCAA Baseball Tournament. The Racers, out of the Missouri Valley, then took that opportunity to take a shot at the Southeastern Conference.
Murray State won the Oxford Regional this weekend with a 3-1 record, beating Georgia Tech but also going 2-1 against No. 10 Ole Miss as the host. Following their 12-11 win that clinched it on Monday, the Racers took to social media with a tweet referencing the well-known slogan of the SEC.
“It Just Meant More. #GoRacers,” the program tweeted last night.
Murray State earned their first-ever spot in a Super Regional by taking it all the last four days in Oxford. They did so in their first appearance in the NCAA Baseball Tournament in 22 years. The three wins they secured this weekend also surpassed their two total wins in school history in the NCAA Tournament. It also took their record for this season to an all-time one as the Racers are now 42-14 overall, seven of those coming so far in the postseason.
The Racers started this run with a 9-6 win over Ole Miss, immediately putting the hosting Rebels into the loser’s bracket. They then won 13-11 over Georgia Tech to set up a two-game scenario, where they needed one win to clinch, against Mississippi. The Rebels won the first one on Sunday at 19-8 to push it to a seventh game in the regional on Monday. However, after losing by double-digit runs the day prior, Murray State held on, after a late rally by Ole Miss in the seventh and eighth innings, to take the 12-11 win and advance.
With that, Murray State will play Duke in what’s now a Super Regional to be hosted in Durham. That’s after the Blue Devils went on to win the Athens Regional, following the upset of No. 7 Georgia. The three-game series will go from Saturday through, if necessary, Monday with the winner set to make the College World Series in Omaha.
