Weather in the area has caused a delay to the start of the Louisville Super Regional with first pitch of the opening game originally scheduled to be at 3:00 pm eastern at Jim Patterson Stadium.

Louisville (38-21) vs. Miami (34-25) was set to start at 3 p.m. EST, but has been moved back approximately 36 minutes to 3:36 p.m. EST on ESPN2.

According to weather.com, scattered thunderstorms are scheduled in the area but are should let up around 3:30 PM EST. The rain should hold off until around 6:00 PM EST, when it is scheduled to storm throughout the night and into the early morning.

Louisville is two wins away from its first Men’s College World Series appearance since 2019, while Miami would be reaching its first College World Series since 2016.

The Cardinals were the No. 2 seed in the Nashville Super Regional, where it outlasted No. 1 Vanderbilt, No. 3 East Tennessee State and No. 4 Wright State. Louisville went 3-0 in the Regional, much like Miami did. The Hurricanes outlasted No. 1 Southern Miss, No. 2 Alabama and No. 4 Columbia to take the Hattiesburg Regional.

These two programs are two of five ACC teams still remaining among the final 16 teams. With Miami and Louisville clashing against each other, the conference is guaranteed at least one team in the Men’s College World Series.

Fellow ACC member North Carolina got off to a great start earlier on Friday, as it downed Arizona 18-2 to take a 1-0 lead in the Chapel Hill Super Regional.

Although they both hail from the same conference, Louisville and Miami did not meet in the regular season. The Hurricanes lead the all-time series between the programs 12-11, as they took the lead with an 8-5 win over the Cardinals in the 2024 ACC Baseball Tournament.
