UCLA QB Nick Billoups enters NCAA transfer portal

UCLA quarterback Nick Billoups entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. He is the latest Bruins QB to hit the open market as the program gets ready to add both Nico and Madden Iamaleava.
Billoups spent one season at UCLA after transferring from BYU. He did not see any game action in his lone season with the Bruins, which came after three years at BYU and one at Utah as a true freshman in 2020.
Billoups is a Long Beach native, but played high school football at San Clemente (Calif.) before arriving at Utah. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Nick Billoups is the fourth UCLA quarterback to enter the transfer portal this spring. The Bruins saw two departures last week when Robert McDaniel and Dermaricus Davis both hit the portal, and they join Appalachian State transfer Joey Aguilar as QBs to leave UCLA as the Iamaleava brothers prepare to arrive.
Davis didn’t play for UCLA last season as a true freshman, and McDaniel arrived as part of the 2025 recruiting cycle. Their departures come after Nico Iamaleava signed with the Bruins and Madden Iamaleava is expected to join, as well.

More on UCLA’s QB situation, Joey Aguilar departure
Aguilar committed to UCLA in December after spending two seasons at Appalachian State. However, he opted to enter the transfer portal after the Bruins signed Iamaleava on Sunday. Iamaleava likely would’ve started over Aguilar next season, and the latter announced his commitment to Tennessee on Tuesday after On3 reported the expectation was he would make his way to Rocky Top.
Aguilar threw for more than 3,000 yards in both years at Appalachian State, and his 3,003 yards ranked as the highest total in the Sun Belt. That came after an impressive 2023 campaign in which he threw for 3,757 yards and 23 touchdowns in 14 games as the Mountaineers finished 9-5 and played in the Sun Belt Championship.
After reports surfaced saying the expectation was Iamaleava would end up at UCLA, Bruins coach DeShaun Foster addressed his conversations with Aguilar. He, of course, committed to the program as the likely starting quarterback, and Foster spoke highly of what he saw through spring practice.
Nico Iamaleava entered the transfer portal following an NIL dispute at Tennessee ahead of the spring game, and the program ultimately chose to part ways after he missed a practice. Madden Iamaleava, meanwhile, signed with Arkansas as a 2025 recruit before entering the portal.
