Arkansas found a way to survive an upset bid on Tuesday night, beating Winthrop at home. Not the performance head coach John Calipari wanted by any stretch of the imagination, especially late. Technical fouls almost cost the Razorbacks down one in the final seconds after an incident regarding Nick Pringle.

Looking to get back on the defensive end after a bucket, Pringle wound up getting tangled with a Winthrop player, Logan Dumcomb. The moment escalated to the point where Pringle tried to lift his opponent by the jersey. Others slightly got involved before officials separated the two sides.

A trip to the monitor took place, determining that double technical fouls were the right call. Multiple guys who came off the bench also got ejected from the game. Pringle remained in for the final possession, thankfully not putting Winthrop on the free-throw line down one.

Certainly a hectic and unfortunate way to end what was a great game in Fayetteville. You can check out the full scenario play out from Bud Walton Arena here.

Pringle came off the bench for Arkansas but wound up playing 28 minutes. His offensive numbers were incredibly efficient, scoring 13 points on a five-for-five night from the floor. Three free throws got him to the point total, finishing as the team’s second-leading scorer. Go ahead and add seven rebounds and two blocks as well. Finally, three personal fouls took place — one of which was the technical right there at the end.

More on Nick Pringle, transfer to Arkansas for final year

This will be the third SEC team in as many years for Pringle. His journey in the conference began in Tuscaloosa with Alabama before going back home to play for South Carolina. One final season of eligibility meant Pringle entered the NCAA transfer portal once again, landing with Arkansas.

Before the season began, Calipari spent some time going through his portal class. Of course, Pringle came up and the head coach spoke about defense. It might be an area Arkansas tries to take advantage of throughout the year, letting Pringle switch onto guards during SEC play.

“Well you know what with Nick, I forgot how good of a defender he was on the ball with pick-and-rolls,” Calipari said. “I watched some tape of our game when [South Carolina] smashed us and he was switching out on our guards and they couldn’t get by him.
