Nick Saban, Miss Terry shoot down rumors linking him to Penn State opening

Nick Saban and his wife Miss Terry shot down any rumors linking him to the Penn State head coach opening. Saban retired from coaching after the 2023 season, following a legendary run at Alabama.
A seven-time national champion coach, six of them coming at Alabama and his first at LSU, Saban is widely regarded as the greatest college coach of all-time. But leaving ESPN’s College GameDay and going back to the sidelines? Better luck next time folks!
Miss Terry shot down the question posed by Pat McAfee on Saturday. McAfee even asked if $50 million would come their way, would the two move out to State College and see Saban’s return to the Big Ten.
“Look Pat, I have no doubt if Nick wanted to go back to coaching, he could win his eighth national championship,” Miss Terry said. “But we’re having too much fun, and we wouldn’t want to take that opportunity away from all of our baby coaches, like Kirby and Lane. I haven’t heard a number yet, Pat.”
Saban didn’t offer much more comment. But it seemed pretty definitive after his wife spoke.
“Mrs. Always Right has spoken,” Saban said. Sounds like Saban and Miss Terry are staying down south!

Buzz about a potential return to coaching for Saban came up this week when Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt suggested Penn State’s first call should be to the GOAT. He also mentioned names like Dan Lanning and Marcus Freeman should get calls, even if they would say no right off the bat.
On3 previously reported Freeman as a name Penn State could target as it gets its list of potential candidates together. But Klatt also wondered not only if Freeman would leave Notre Dame after leading the program to a national championship game appearance, but also if Penn State is a better job. Regardless, he called it potentially the best job to open this cycle.
“I think that Pat Kraft, the athletic director at Penn State, is going to take a big swing,” Klatt said on The Herd. “I don’t think that anybody is off of his list, to be honest with you. If I was Pat Kraft, I would start with the biggest swing possible. I know this sounds crazy, but I think the first call I would make is Nick Saban and just make sure that that’s not going to happen.
“And then you start going down the list of the other coaches around the country. I think Dan Lanning will get a call, I think Marcus Freeman would get a call.”
