Northwestern wrestler Chris Cannon announces return to Wildcats

Former Michigan and Northwestern wrestler Chris Cannon has finally made up his mind. On Wednesday night, Cannon revealed he will be returning to Northwestern for another season.
The two-time All-American originally entered the portal back on May 1 with a “do not contact designation.” After missing almost the entire 2023-24 season due to injury, he’ll be back in action this winter.

Cannon was plugged into the Wolverines’ lineup at 133 pounds last season, but once he was hurt, Dylan Ragusin burnt his redshirt. Ragusin went on to become a Big Ten finalist and finished 5th at the NCAA Tournament, becoming an All-American for the first time.
As far as Cannon is concerned, there was speculation he could go 141 last year, but stayed at 133.
Cannon, a two-time All-American, went 20-10 in 2022-23 but went 1-2 at 133 pounds at the 2023 NCAA Wrestling Championships. However, Cannon finished in 7th place at 133 in back-to-back tournaments in 2021 and ‘22. Cannon is 52-22 in his career after wrestling three varsity seasons with the Wildcats and one match at Michigan.
