Ohio State cornerback makes NFL Draft decision

A cornerback at Ohio State has decided to come back to Columbus for one more year of college football. Senior Cameron Brown has decided after dealing with a few injury setbacks, he’s going to come back to Ohio State for one more year in hopes of boosting his NFL Draft stock.

In the words of On3’s Austin Ward, “when he was at his best, the speedy defender showed the high-end ability that can make him an appealing NFL Draft option.”

Brown is a former four-star prospect out of Christian Brothers College in St. Louis, Missouri.

He announced his return in a statement to Lettermen Row.

“I want to start off by thanking God for giving me this opportunity, because without him I couldn’t have done any of this,” Brown said. “Thank you to everyone on the Ohio State staff, and most importantly, the Buckeye Nation. I’ve been through a lot over the past four years, but I am not done yet.

“There are many more memories to make and games to win with my brothers. I will be returning to Ohio State next year.”

All signs were pointing to Brown leaving Ohio State

He could never get fully healthy after coming back from an Achilles injury he suffered in 2020 against Penn State. Had a few setbacks with his knee in 2021 and also suffered a midseason concussion. Ohio State fans might have thought he was going to the NFL since he participated in Senior Day festivities this year. Now, the pro teams that desired Brown’s services will now have to wait a year before they can draft him.

In coming back one more year for the Buckeyes, Brown will join rising sophomore Denzel Burke as returning members for the Ohio State secondary. Brown’s announcement is huge news, because the Buckeye coaching staff won’t need to seek help from the transfer portal.

Ohio State fans hope their talented corner can finally get healthy and reach his full potential as a prospect during the 2022 campaign.
