Oklahoma celebrates win over Alabama with 'Dixieland Delight' locker room troll

Big wins in the SEC call for big-time celebrations, and Oklahoma certainly qualified for one of those on Saturday with a 23-21 win over Alabama. And the Sooners were feeling it after the fact.
As reporters waited to meet with players and coaches following the game, they were treated to a faint bit of listening from the Oklahoma locker room. The sound that emerged?
None other than Dixieland Delight. The song, of course, is one of the favorites of the Alabama faithful. Check it out below.
Oklahoma isn’t the first program to play the catchy tune after a win over Alabama, as rare as they come. Tennessee has also trolled Alabama by playing Dixieland Delight in the past.
The stakes were huge on Saturday, and the Sooners didn’t shy away from them. Having already lost two games this season, Oklahoma essentially had to win to remain relevant in the College Football Playoff picture.

Well, those playoff hopes are alive and well. Brent Venables got a signature win he has been searching for over the past couple of seasons. Oklahoma went to Bryant-Denny Stadium and walked out winners, 23-21.
Defensive plays were the name of the game for OU. One of the best units in all of college football was without its top player, R Mason Thomas. His presence was missed but not critical in the result. Oklahoma got plenty of pressure on the Alabama offensive line and forced quarterback Ty Simpson into mistakes.
Three turnovers proved to be crucial, leading to points for quarterback John Mateer from the get-go. A Ryan Williams fumble on a punt return led to a field goal, while Simpson directly gave one to Oklahoma via a pick-six. Simpson then fumbled late in the third quarter, leading to what would eventually turn into the game-winning field goal.
The short fields were enough to make the difference. And now Oklahoma will be singing Dixieland Delight long into the evening.
