WATCH: Ole Miss fan throws chair at Mississippi State players taunting them after win
Mississippi State won the Egg Bowl, prompting Ole Miss fans who were already upset to throw a chair and trash at the players taunting them on the field after the game. Immediately after the win, multiple players from the Bulldogs ran over to a specific section of the Ole Miss stands and began to taunt and talk trash to the crowd after the 24-22 win.
The fans let the players know how they felt about the ending of the game, throwing trash and various items — including a chair thrown by one fan that fell far from a player near their section.
Ole Miss fan throws chair on field
The Bulldogs players didn’t seem fazed at all by the fan who threw the chair as it fell harmlessly to the field, but the players were definitely ready to rub salt in the wound for the fans after the win. Although it was unclear during the game exactly what happened, a touchdown catch by Rara Thomas where he was injured might have been the cause of the post-game taunting session.
Thomas was hobbled after scoring a touchdown in the fourth quarter that built a lead that would hold until the final whistle. As Thomas went to the ground with an apparent leg issue, he was seen on camera shouting something at a fan near where he caught the touchdown. It was reported during the game that a fan had thrown something at him — possibly setting up the post-game trash talk. The location that the Bulldogs players went after the final whistle was the exact spot that Thomas had his altercation with the fans.

The fans in attendance were already in a sour mood after a controversial fumble review decision by the officials earlier in the fourth quarter. A pass by Jaxson Dart was determined to be a backwards pass that resulted in a fumble, and Mississippi State was awarded possession of the football. The decision drew immediate outrage from Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin and the fans in the stadium, as the Rebels players failed to recover the ball as they believed the play was ruled an incomplete pass — after the officials blew their whistle on the field to signal the play over.
Ole Miss fans in the stadium began to throw beer cans and trash on the field in protest of the call at that time as well.
