Ole Miss trolls Alabama after landing 'big fish' Trey Amos
Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss social media are one of the best in the game when it comes to trolling opponents online.
On Friday night, Kiffin and company were at it again, when the Rebels landed a “big fish” transfer portal prospect from the Crimson Tide, defensive back Trey Amos.
Former Alabama defensive back Trey Amos has committed to Ole Miss out of the NCAA transfer portal, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
His commitment comes following his visit to Oxford over the weekend, and he will have one year of eligibility to play for head coach Lane Kiffin and the 2024 Rebels squad.
During his lone season in Tuscaloosa, Amos compiled 12 tackles and five pass breakups while appearing in 10 games for the Crimson Tide this past season. In four years of college football, Amos has tallied 72 total tackles, 18 PBUs and one interception, which came during his true freshman season with the Ragin’ Cajuns.
Prior to his stop at Alabama, Amos spent three seasons at Louisiana before transferring to Alabama for the 2023 season. There, he compiled 60 tackles and is where he logged the only interception of his career.
Before college, Amos played high school football at Catholic (LA) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,572 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 159 cornerback in his recruiting class.
Amos was among several Crimson Tide football players that entered the portal in the wake of head coach Nick Saban stepping down from the program to retire. Those names included fellow defensive back, Caleb Downs, who is the No. 1 player in the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to On3’s rankings, after wrapping up a stellar true freshman season.
Now, Amos joins one of the most star-studded transfer portal classes of the cycle and joined fellow SEC athletes such as former Texas A&M DL Walter Nolan, former South Carolina wide receiver Juice Wells and former Florida EDGE Princely Umanmeilen, among others.
Ole Miss ranks No. 3 in the current On3 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings, falling in just behind Louisville and Colorado, respectively. Over a dozen players have transferred into the program while the Rebels have lost a handful more to boot, including star running back Quinshon Judkins, who has since transferred to Ohio State.
Amos and the rest of Kiffin’s group kick off their 2024 college football season on Aug. 31 against Furman before opening SEC play in Oxford against Kentucky one month later on Sept. 28 before heading to South Carolina for the Rebels’ first road trip to Columbia since 2009.
