DeSoto (Texas) four-star wide receiver Johntay Cook II has elite speed, and may be zooming towards a commitment over the next few months.

He has already released a top-seven list of Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Texas and Texas A&M but it looks like at this juncture its going to be a two-car race between the two Lone Star State schools.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) foresees such a battle with the Longhorns having the current advantage with a 56.7% chance of landing Cook. The Aggies are second with a 33.1% chance.

LSU is a distance third at 8.1%.

RPM was released to the public in December 2021. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, expert predictions, social sentiment, visits, and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Johntay Cook II might make a decision in June

Johntay Cook II is the No. 56 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the 11th-best wideout in the class and ninth-best player from the state of Texas.

Cook has an On3 NIL Valuation of $59,000, which currently ranks 36th among high school football players. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

At this past weekend’s Battle Vegas, Cook talked with On3’s Sam Spiegelman about his recruitment and timeline. The date to look out for with Cook is June 15. If he is ready to make a decision, Cook will make it that day.

“It’s gonna be a really hard decision,” Cook told On3. “Originally, my family and I thought I’d be ready by my mom’s birthday on June 15.”
